Foundries & Metal Casting

Sand casting mold cleaning, die casting residue removal, core box maintenance, and pattern cleaning. Concentrated along the I-78/I-287 industrial belt in NJ and PA. Recurring maintenance contracts available.

The Challenge

Foundry tooling accumulates sand adhesion, release agent buildup, metal splash, and thermal oxidation over hundreds of casting cycles. Sand molds and core boxes degrade in dimensional accuracy. Die casting dies develop soldering (aluminum adhesion to steel) and thermal fatigue cracks filled with process residue.

Traditional cleaning methods damage the tooling. Sandblasting erodes fine detail on pattern surfaces. Chemical cleaning attacks coating finishes and leaves residue in cooling channels. Manual grinding is slow and inconsistent.

Applications

USE CASE 01

Sand Mold and Core Box Cleaning

Remove baked sand, resin binder residue, and metal flash from core boxes and pattern plates. Restore dimensional accuracy without material removal.

USE CASE 02

Die Casting Die Maintenance

Remove aluminum soldering, release agent buildup, and thermal oxide from die surfaces. Clean cooling channels and ejector pin holes without disassembly.

USE CASE 03

Pattern Cleaning

Clean wood, metal, and urethane patterns. Remove parting compound, paint buildup, and sand adhesion. Preserve fine detail and draft angles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequency depends on production volume and material. Sand core boxes typically benefit from cleaning every 200-500 cycles. Die casting dies every 1,000-5,000 shots depending on alloy and complexity. Our maintenance contracts provide scheduled cleaning on your production calendar.

Laser parameters are adjusted to remove contaminants without affecting PVD, CVD, or nitrided surface treatments. We test on a non-critical area first.
